Jeffrey Todd Hausdorf, age 80, passed away on January 9, 2023. Jeff was born on October 19, 1942 in Plattsburgh, New York to the late Benedict and Nilah Hausdorf.

Jeff earned his Master’s degree in mathematics and enjoyed being a teacher. While teaching at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Middle School in upstate New York, he met the love of his life, Karen, and on August 19, 1967 they married. Jeff changed career paths soon after and worked in the computer sales industry for thirty years before retiring. While in retirement, his passion for teaching called him back. He taught math at Walton High School for the remainder of his working career.

Jeff lived an active lifestyle. He set up a home gym so he and his family could workout and he logged countless miles on his bicycle. He enjoyed going on road trips on his motorcycles. He loved shooting and collecting firearms and he passed that passion on to his sons.

Jeff had a keen sense of humor and always had something witty prepared and appropriate for the situation that always caused you to laugh or smile. He enjoyed seeing others laugh.

Above all else, Jeff loved his family. This was evident throughout his life. He looked forward to any occasion the family was able to get together. He attended every sporting event and school function he could for his sons as well as his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Karen; sons, David (Melissa), Scott (Melissa) and Andrew (Michelle); grandchildren, Jessica, Brendan, Robby, Reagan, Katie, and Christopher; sister, Jeanne Lanier.

A memorial service to honor Mr. Jeffrey Hausdorf will be held in the chapel of HM Patterson and Son Canton Hill on March 11, 2023 at 1:00pm.

I was really moved looking at all those photos of Jeff on the site we were linked to -- him with his family.  Though we had few classes together, I always experienced him as such a bright, warm, welcoming presence.  Seeing him with is family, it was so clear, the warmth there: all of them were of the same cloth. How fitting.  How beautiful!

Jeff, Chuck Heywood and I roomed together freshman year, and Jeff invited me that year up to his house in Plattsburg, NY for a weekend, and I got to meet his very welcoming parents. I was happy to see Jeff and his wife Karen at the Japanese Embassy in Buckhead, Atlanta about 1986. Our classmate Takayuki Kimura, who was the Consul General of Japan for the southeast U.S., and his wife had invited his classmates in the Atlanta metro area for dinner. Also there were Chris Hagy and his wife and Alex Branch and his wife. Chuck, who had moved to Augusta, GA about 1972, Jeff and I got together at Westminister School in Atlanta, when Chuck was coaching a high school debate, and not long after that the three of us got together again with our wives for dinner in Dulluth, GA. It was like old times. I've always had a warm place in my heart for Jeff. He was a very special person.
