Harold G. Morgan, Jr.

MORGAN, HAROLD (Hal) G. Jr., 81, of Exeter, passed away peacefully at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence on Monday, October 7, 2024. He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Bonnie Jean Morgan.

Born January 7th, 1943 in New Haven, Connecticut, Harold was a son of the late Harold G. Sr. and Madeline A. (DeMaio) Morgan. Harold grew up in Connecticut and graduated from Griswold High School.

He attended Williams College and was a Mensa member. Harold served his country in the United States Army and the Connecticut and California National Guard.

Hal was an active member of the Rhode Island Republican Party. He also sat on the Exeter Town Council for four years. He was a devoted member of the Exeter Volunteer Fire Station Number 2 for over 45 years, still assisting at fires and accidents until recently. He valued the friendships he made within all these
organizations.

For the last 20 years, Hal was the Zoning Inspector for the Town of Exeter, a position he enjoyed very much. Before

serving as the Zoning Inspector, Hal professionally wore many hats. He was a gift manufacturers representative for many years. He also worked at Kay Dee Handprints and then eventually owned two small gift companies that manufactured brass stencils and bookmarks and also silk-screened slates.

Hal was a member at the South County Rod and Gun Club for 50 years. He enjoyed trips up north with his hunting friends and fishing expeditions with his best friend and best man Bob Scott. He liked to sail, work endlessly on his land, stay active in local politics, and engage in lively discussions on many and varied subjects. He was a loyal and loving friend to those who knew him, always ready to lend a helping hand or brainstorm a new project.

Hal was the loving father of Tina Golden, her husband Greg, of Bristol, Rhode Island and grandfather of Samantha, Katherine and Abigail Golden whom he also enjoyed fishing with at local ponds. He was the brother of James Peter Morgan of Stockton, California and Virginia Jo Moses of Corpus Christi, Texas. He was uncle to Jennifer (Morgan) Wilner, Bonnie Lynn Moses and Joe Morgan Moses. He had two great nieces and a great nephews. All of them will miss him terribly.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life on November 2nd from 11 to 3 pm at the Exeter No. 2 Fire Department, 366 Nooseneck Hill Road, Exeter, Rhode Island.

In lieu of flowers, donations made in Hal's memory to the Exeter Volunteer Fire Station No. 2, would be appreciated.

I had no classes with Hal, but from one meaning-rich conversation I had the feeling I was wiith a guy who very much wanted to honor relationships and contribute to life by doing so.  I was moved reading his obituary, seeing how fully he lived that beautiful intention.
