John Frederick LeFevre, age 78, died on Saturday, December 19, 2020, in Colorado Springs, CO. He was born in Troy, Ohio, on January 16, 1942, to Virginia Forward LeFevre and Frederick Campbell LeFevre.
John studied piano from an early age, and it was the beginning of his lifelong love of Music. When he entered high school, his parents became interested in figure skating as a result of the newly constructed Hobart Arena in Troy. John skated briefly until leaving for Williams College in 1960. After graduating from Williams in 1964, he enrolled in George Washington School of law, in Washington, D.C. He completed his studies, earning his J.D. in 1967. He joined the U. S. Navy in 1967, attended Officers Candidate School, and served on the U. S. Guam during the Vietnam War. After serving for four years, he returned to Washington D.C. where he passed the bar, and began a 36 year career at the Federal Trade Commission.
Throughout his life, John's primary interests were music and figure skating. He sang in various church choirs and choral groups, both in Washington and Colorado. Inspired by his parents, John pursued his love of figure skating, ultimately reaching world and Olympic level judge, He was the president of the Washington Figure Skating Club, and later, after retiring from the Federal Trade Commission, he was asked to be the executive director of U.S. Figure Skating, and moved to Colorado Springs in 1998. After retiring from U.S. Figure Skating, he became president of the Broadmoor Skating Club.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda J. LeFevre, and daughter Sarah P. LeFevre.
We hope John's friends remember him for his bawdy humor, boisterous nature, and his kind, loving spirit.  He will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the music department of the National Presbyterian Church, 4101 Nebraska Avenue NW, Washington D.C. 20016.

John was a close friend for over 60 years, since we met as Freshman roommates.  We roomed together again in Sophomore year, and both of us pledged with Phi Delta Theta.  He stayed with it, but remained good friends even though I became a "non-affiliate" shortly thereafter.   John was my Best Man when Carol & I got  married in 1964.  Although we lived in different parts of the country, we enjoyed the Williams Reunions and other times we could connect.  We'll deeply miss you, John.Reunions
