DeWitt was always humble and supportive as a fellow Officer of the New York State Society of the Cincinnati. He was a problem solver, a financial expert and a supporter of his fellow members. As a friend during more than 50 years, he always helped more than expected no matter what the challenge, openly assisting and always self effacing. And in all ways a gentleman with a good sense of humor and of the difference between right and wrong.
