Jay H. Keller

Jay H. Keller age 63 of Alliance, died at 9:55 p.m. Thursday April 22, 2004 at Aultman Hospital. He was born April 2, 1941 in Alliance, Ohio to J. Harrison Keller III and Gretchen (Gahris) Keller, and was a lifelong resident of Alliance and Sebring.

Jay graduated in 1959 from Sebring High School and from The Lawrenceville School in 1960. In 1964 he received his Bachelors of Arts Degree from Williams College. He also attended the Small Business Management School of Harvard University. Jay received Industry Degrees as a Certified Advertising Specialist and Master Advertising Specialist.

Mr. Keller was president of General Commercial Corp, a top 100 Advertising Specialty Company, which he founded in 1984. Previously; he was Vice President of Sales at the former Salem China Co. Jay attended Trinity Episcopal Church and served on the Vestry. He was a member of Alliance Country Club, Congress Lake Country Club, B.P.O.E. #467 of Alliance, The Duquesne Club, Conrad Masonic Lodge #271, and a 32 Mason, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Canton. He was a member of Tadmor Temple, Long Cove Club, Airline Owners and Pilots Association, and Alliance Community Hospital Foundation Board. Jay was Vice-President of Endowment for Buckeye Council Boy Scouts of America, was an Eagle Scout, and received the Silver Beaver Award in 2004, which is the highest Council volunteer award. Jay was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran, an avid pilot, and Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast. He is survived by his wife, Lynn (Englerth) Keller, whom he married March 22, 1969; two sons: Jay (wife Meghan McCleary), of Red Hook, New York, and Damon of Los Angeles, CA; one daughter: Katie of Washington D.C.; two sisters: Connie (Mrs. Robert Keplinger) of Canton and Kristin Williams of Alliance. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gary.
