Yesterday Richard Tyner ‘64 died.  He was a pulmonary physician who followed his father in providing medical services to a small western New York community.  At Williams he was a member of Sigma Phi.  He was a major participant in that fraternity and the friends he made there sustained him throughout his losing fight with dementia.  He religiously returned to Williamstown for Homecoming, helping to organize and participate in Sigma Phi dinners for more than 50 years.

In 2019 he attended his last Homecoming dinner where he “sang along” with his brothers and friends in a voice which was true to the song notwithstanding his inability to remember the lyrics.  As we continue our Homecoming dinners, we few remaining Sigma Phis will always remember and celebrate Richard’s life.
