Robert E. Denham

December 23, 2015

Dear Classmates,

I must report on the death of Bob Denham a few weeks ago. Bob came to Williams in the fall of 1960 from Westport, CT. After college he went to law school and practiced in New York and then Cincinnati before moving to Saint Augustine, FL. I spoke to his wife, Sherry, and she mentioned a year long battle with brain cancer. Bob also went to VT in the summer and saw John Anderson frequently. I had talked with Bob before our 50th, but he said he could not get up to Williamstown. Not cheery news for the holidays, but remember Bob and have a merry time doing it!

All the best, John Foehl

OBITUARY

Robert E. Denham, formerly of Cincinnati, died peacefully at home in St. Augustine on Dec. 3, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was 73.

Bob grew up in Westport, Connecticut, and graduated from Williams College and NYU School of Law, also winning a fellowship in law at the University of Paris. He held a variety of law positions in New York and later in Cincinnati, worked for the newly formed EPA and in retirement did children's advocacy as a volunteer. A lifelong athlete and tennis teacher, Bob was also devoted to music and became an accomplished jazz pianist in his later years.

He is survived by his wife, Sharyn Scull, of St. Augustine; two children, Zoe Robertson, of Mount Kisco, New York, and Clarke Denham, of San Francisco; two stepchildren, Brooke Devlin-Brown, of Chicago, and Tyler Scull-McWilliams, of Cincinnati; and six grandchildren.

Family and friends were Bob's greatest joy. He will be missed here in St. Augustine and in Vermont, where he and Sharyn spent summers. A memorial is being planned in Vermont in the coming months.
